Why Old Fox Hollow Exists

There are many ways to build a life.

Some are fast and loud, constructed quickly and displayed brightly. Others are slower, almost hidden at first — shaped quietly over time, strengthened by steady hands and patient choices.

Old Fox Hollow was born from a longing for the second kind.

In a world that moves quickly and speaks constantly, we began to feel the need for something more rooted. Not something novel, but something enduring. A place — both physical and thoughtful — shaped by what is steady and true.

This is not a project built from urgency. It is the result of conviction.

We wanted a life that allowed for depth.
Learning that formed more than performance.
Hospitality that offered rest rather than impression.
Writing that lingered instead of rushed.

But beneath all of these desires was something deeper.

We believe that truth is not something we invent. It is something we receive. And we believe that truth has been revealed to us in the Word of God — the Bible — and ultimately in the person of Jesus Christ.

God’s Word is not merely helpful guidance for us. It is our authority, our anchor, and our hope. It shapes how we understand learning. It shapes how we practice hospitality. It shapes how we interpret the world around us.

Without it, Old Fox Hollow would be nothing more than an aesthetic preference.

With it, this work becomes worship.

At its heart, Old Fox Hollow exists for three purposes:

To root learning in the enduring truth of Scripture.
To offer rest that reflects the peace we have in Christ.
To cultivate reflection that turns our hearts toward what is eternal.

We believe that lifelong learning is not confined to childhood or classrooms. It is part of loving the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Education, rightly ordered, forms the mind to recognize what is true and reject what is false.

We believe that hospitality is not performance. It is a reflection of the welcome we ourselves have received in Christ — undeserved, generous, and steady.

We believe that reflection is not indulgence. It is attention — learning to number our days, to notice God’s faithfulness, and to see His hand in ordinary life.

Old Fox Hollow is still becoming. It is a home in the woods. It is a gathering of resources. It is a space prepared for rest. It is a place for thoughtful writing.

But more than that, it is an offering.

An offering shaped by Scripture.

Anchored in Christ.

Dependent on grace.

We do not build this life perfectly. We build it prayerfully.

And if there is any beauty or steadiness here, it is because the foundation beneath it does not shift.

If you have found your way here, you are welcome.

May this place — in whatever form you encounter it — point you not merely to quiet living, but to the One who is Himself the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

We are glad you have come.
